![]() The SoundscapesThe creation of Brooklyn-based Brazilian brothers Rodrigo and
Raphael Carvalho, the Soundscapes play sweetly roaring underground pop. Rodrigo's
consistently irresistible melodies are backed with sparks of searing distortion,
layers of warm chorus and Raphael's tightly-constructed driving beats. It's almost
as if Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo, My Bloody Valentine and Pavement are playing
simultaneously on stage - influences shine through with unabashed clarity
in each song, but they are blended so cohesively it's hard to tell where shoegaze
ends and punk begins or when low-fi anthems give way to lush dream-laced pop.
"Brooklyn based Brazilian fraternal duo The Soundscapes wrangle arena-sized rock out of just drums and a guitar. The impressive thing isn't just how tightly The Soundscapes play together, but how they seem to have boiled down their influences - think the whole range of early 90's alt-rock and shoegaze - into something that can get pumped out through a duo without any loss of sound or intensity." - Bryan Bruchman, CMJ MySpace: www.myspace.com/thesoundscapes |
